The Jordans just completed the Late Night Bike Ride

As of July 13th 2008, The Jordan Family completed the Late Night Bike Ride, a 25 mile bike ride that started at midnight and ended at 5am. The bike ride took place through Chicago's west loop towards Chicago's North side. The turn around point brought the bikers east along Chicago's Lakefront and finally arriving back downtown in the Grant Park area. The highlight of the bike ride was watching the sunrise above the water on the lake. Most of the Jordan's felt that the bike ride was an easy accomplishment as far as athletic ability, but challenging when it came to safety. There were thousands of bikers participating along with automobile traffic interfering with the flow of the bike path. Pat Jordan took a fall when a fellow biker bumped into her bike. It was a domino effect if one biker takes a fall, then more than likely, someone else will suffer from one biker's fall. Most who commented felt accomplished for completing the Late Night Bike Ride, but the safety hazard was a concern. So, some of the Jordans may not particpate in this particular race again.
The Jordans that attended was Deatrice Childs, Ronnie Jordan, Booker and Pat Jordan, Anthony Muhammad and Julene Allen, Lori Kinnard. Also, Terrence attended, which is a friend of Booker's.

The late night bike ride was one of the nicest experiences I've had in the city of Chicago in terms of activities. The opportunity to see the city during the wee hours (12a-6a) was pretty incredible. Not only did we get a chance to witness the city's night life (and I won't ell how many moons it's been since I've been up that late), but we also got a change to see it "go to sleep" and "wake up".

Being pretty much a lifelong resident of Chicago, I underestimate how beautiful it is. We get so caught up in the hustle and bustle, the traffic, the crowds, and the violence that it was pretty spectacular to see the sun rising over the lake at 5 o'clock in the morning and beautiful stillness of the lake. Not to mention being a part of at least 10,000 bikers; there were literally a sea of bikers as far as your eyes could see.

We had a few minor mishaps but, all in all, well worth the lack of sleep. Plus we all had some good chow for breakfast!

Special thanks to Julene for being the spark in getting us started doing these fitness activities. A special thanks to Pat as well because it started out as just the 3 of us fitness-minded gals.

I hope more Jordans join us. It's not just about fitness; it's about developing relationships with the most important people in our lives -- our family.

See ya at the next one. Peace.
